Sure Signs of Spring

Slight signs of spring start to enter my view and it causes

a lightness to my step, the need to open a window, the hope

that we have served our winter sentence and the freedom from

white will soon be replaced by the beauty of green and blue.

How do I know?

Rubber boots replace snow boots

Water starts to accumulate in our driveway which in turn

will run into our crawl space if we do not point it to the lake.

The ice fisherman began to haul off their huts and buildings in

preparation of the frozen floor melting underneath them.

People that live in warm places 12 months of the year can

never imagine what we go through, what we complain about,

and what the change of seasons can feel like.
