Preparation for our Holiday

Today, this blog changes it clothes and prepares to become a Travel Journal.

I will leave my thoughts on home, lake, life and family and turn towards preparing to leave for our trip of a lifetime. This is a trip I know we will never experience again and we are excited to get at it.
Every part of the trip will have its shares of exciting things to see and do, but the highlights I think, will be.......
1. experiencing the emotions of seeing the pyramids of Egypt for the first time, (as I burst into song singing the 1950's hit by the Duprees..."See the Pyramids along the Nile").....
2. walking the paths where the apostles Paul and John walked, and the Virgin Mary lived until her death, in Ephesus Turkey,(as this is Holy Week we may find it very busy).

My belief is just as the success to house purchasing is location, location, location, …the success to a trip as ours is planning, planning, planning.

I have researched every port, I have googled maps on all places we will visit, I have joined many many forums where other travellers comment on their trips, I have read reviews, I have cut and pasted and made many files with ideas and warnings and in the process of all of this made cyber friends with others that are doing the same trip.

We are ready to go and the next few days will go fast as we do the last minute packing and repacking.
Yesterday we walked about a mile wearing our back packs weighting about 15 pounds each and found that it worked very well. Who tried to tell me a laptop and all the electronics to make it work in other countries was too heavy to take with me.
